Dean Cheley
is currently a litigation associate working in century city exploring his interests in entertainment, corporate and intellectual property law.
Dean studied at UC Berkeley, Boalt Law school where he served as Executive Editor of the Berkeley Technology Law Journal.
Prior to law, Dean worked with media and Internet start-ups, managing marketing and eCommerce programs from both the client
and service side of the industry.
Most recently, Dean has worked
at YAYA Media, a digital media company focusing
on brand marketing through use of video games and entertainment. Dean also spent three years as Site Producer and
Manager at Precision Entertainment/ WhatsHotNow (WHN), a leading
on-line marketplace for licensors, licensees, and retailers.
His responsibilities included managing
studio commerce sites and developing licensed products for entertainment clientele including 20th
Century FOX, Comedy Central, MTV and musical artists such as
Alanis Morissette and Jewel.
Dean has long held an interest in the future of music and entertainment
delivery, and the possibilities of the digital delivery of art.
As UCLA Campus Events Director, he produced and directed live
Internet concerts and events from campus. He also assisted artist manager's, Ron Stone and John Silva at Gold Mountain Entertainment,
a leading artist management group representing
Beastie Boys, Beck, Bonnie Raitt and Foo Fighters.
His interest in digital technology stems from his passion in
music performance and experimentation with computer editing
programs and synthesizers. He is an accomplished pianist and
percussionist having trained at Los Alamitos Performing Arts
High school and Chapman University. Dean earned his bachelor's
degree from University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) in
Digital & New Media Studies, an Individual Major and Interdisciplinary
Program sponsored by faculty in the schools of Design, Film
and Television and Communication.
